White willow is botanically known as Salix Alba, descending from the Salicaceae family. According to AnniesRemedy.com, white willow can grow as far north as Nova Scotia and as far south as Georgia. It is native to the eastern part of North America.

The white willow is a "large tree with rough, gray bark and slender, graceful branches that product tiny, yellow branches that produce tiny, yellow flowers in April and May, followed by thin green leaves." (AnniesRemedy.com)
